Hello World!
I do realize I haven't posted much this week. Sorry guys!
First of all, I'd like to let you know about the updates I'm making... Starting with the fact that you can now access the pictures I take while in San Francisco HERE!
I'll put the link somewhere where it's more accessible, but at the moment, that's where you need to go.
I usually uploads pictures every day or two, and make a lot more pix during the week-end. I hope it can show you a glimpse of the awesome life I seem to be bound to have for the next year or so.
So, moving on to less boring things, I'm gonna try to tackle down through the list of things that I have to tell you!
First of all: I finally got my exam results... And well I can finally call this second year at University OVER...
In other news: work is busy but going well. I'm trying to stay organized so my co-workers and my supervisor are helping me hold a document where we all input what needs to be done, when, and who's working on it. It may seem strange if you're not used to it, and you need to be flexible on some stuff, but overall it's a great way to exactly know what to do, and when. Or at least, it's very helpful to me, and to some of my co-workers too!
Talking about co-workers, I have to say that once again the team is absolutely great. Everyone is happily working with each other, and if there is a problem, no one holds it against you or anything. Once again, it may sound obvious, but in my previous jobs (summer jobs in a camping site and in a supermarket), the team was either full of hypocrites or people were not putting any effort in what they were doing, either alone, or as part of a team. It's something that is very important to me, and I'm feeling immensely grateful to work with such talented and nice people around me.
We are always going out together for lunch (I might have mentioned that quite a bit now) and in nearly 3 weeks, we've been going to a lot of different places. As a food-loving French man, I have to say going to San Francisco was one the best things I could have done. It's both affordable (not to say quite cheap, most of the time) and you eat both well and in generous portions.
This one thing happened to me though: last week I got stuck outside of the office. Unfortunately, most people were either legitimately coming-in late or working from home. And it just happened the same day for everyone. So the other intern that was here, and myself, stayed outside for an hour and a half. We did take the time to go back to the reception and enjoy a warm cup of coffee before someone actually came in and opened... Fun experience, but since I now have a key to access the office, it shouldn't be happening again.
During the weekend, we spent our saturday afternoon on Haight Street, located just two blocks over our house. It's a beautiful street that reminded me of the Brighton Laines, colorful little shops, and a rather hyped-up area, surrounded by smoke shops and hipsters. As you can see on the pictures, it's really nice, and well... You just can't get bored: in between a $10,000 Bong (yes, the one that you use to smoke) and the Hippy Bus (aka "Magic Bus") you can find artistic graffitis and such...
We had a nice evening home watching Fight Club, while some of the housemates were at the movies watching the last installment of the Harry Potter series.
Sunday has been a lazy day playing with the Ukulele and washing up some clothes.
...And it was time for my third week to begin.
This week has been the best so far, and I get this overall sense of things getting better and better everyday, either with my new friends/housemates or at work as well. We're busy preparing a conference and some crazy-exciting announcements for the months to come, which means —for me, and as part of the Marketing and Community team— quite a lot of work...
Unfortunately, this week was also Morgan's last week at Seesmic, as an intern. He's been there for the 9 past months and has done some incredible work with and for the team. He also trained me on a bunch of things, and I am very grateful to him for all the help Mr Denis provided me with.
We did "celebrate" this though, and went to a nice restaurant where the burgers flew from the sky, with sprinkles on top and unicorn shining... (for more explanations about the Sprinkles on top and Unicorns shining, see Michelle's videos on Youtube...)
Raccoon Morgan You'll Be Missed !
To end up this week, we went to a crepes place yesterday. Sadly though, aside from the interior design and the name of the dishes, there was barely anything french about that place. But it was really nice though!
Today: saturday, I'll be going to Chinatown and we're planning to have a housemates time out to see Captain America tonight... Wait and See!
À bientôt!
